Ian DigmanChair of Governors
Ian Digman
IanDigmanis an experienced automotive engineer and business leader, with over 30 years working across the global mobility industry. After graduating from Loughborough University, he joined Ford's graduate scheme, where he spent 18 years in leadership roles spanning Germany, China, and the UK. His responsibilities ranged from manufacturing and product development to business strategy and transformation.
To broaden his skill set, Ian earned an MBA from Duke University, complementing his technical background with commercial acumen. He subsequently held senior roles at Nissan and Infiniti in Switzerland, before returning to the UK to join McLaren Automotive. Since 2020, he has worked independently as an advisor to high-growth startups in the mobility and technology sectors.
Returning to England after two decades abroad has allowed Ian to engage more actively in the local community. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees at the GASP Motor Project, a charity that supports at-risk young people through practical mechanical skills development.
Ian is passionate about providing inclusive opportunities for all young people to thrive, and is keen to support the strategic development of appropriate education through his governance role. He brings a strong background in leadership, systems thinking, and stakeholder engagement, and is committed to promoting equity, wellbeing, and high aspirations within the school.
He lives in Shalford with his wife, teenage daughter, and dog, and enjoys cycling, running, and restoring a classic 1970s Lancia.

Sam RawlinsonStaff Governor
Sam Rawlinson
Sam Rawlinson is a dedicated Class Teacher and the Maths Lead at Bramley Oak Academy. Now in his fourth year at the school, Sam brings both experience and enthusiasm to his role, with a strong commitment to the academic and personal development of every pupil. He is deeply passionate about creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all children feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Sam is especially driven by the belief that every child deserves access to a strong, supportive community that fosters both learning and personal growth. He looks forward to continuing his journey at Bramley Oak Academy and contributing to its vibrant and caring school culture.

Lucy Matthewson
Lucy Matthewson is a highly experienced retail buyer with expertise across multiple categories, including Horticulture and Fresh Produce. Lucy specialises in Sourcing, Negotiation, Strategic and Brand Development, driving sustainable, profitable growth while adapting to evolving customer needs. Throughout Lucy's career she demonstrates the ability to collaborate across the supply chain with partners to deliver impactful results.Lucy now works as an International Trade Consultant, advising SMEs on capacity building and market access, specifically in the EU and UK, leveraging her extensive experience to help clients grow and thrive. -
James MarkeyCommunity Governor
James Markey
James Markey is the founder of UNI SIM, the UK's leading manufacturer of haptic virtual reality simulators, bringing extensive experience in innovation, leadership, and strategic growth. He is also the founder of Bipolar Bear, a not for profit organisation supporting individuals living with bipolar disorder and promoting greater awareness of mental health.
James volunteers as an Export Champion for the government's Department for Business and Trade and for Bipolar UK, supporting organisations to grow sustainably while contributing positively to society. Through his professional and voluntary roles, he brings a strong understanding of governance, accountability, and social responsibility.
In his role as a governor/trustee, James is committed to supporting effective leadership, robust oversight, and inclusive decision making. Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys speaking French, clay pigeon shooting, and coding.

Oktavia Ros has over 10 years of experience in the Civil Service within the property profession, specialising in project management, facilities management, and health and safety. Oktavia is particularly passionate about education and the positive impact it has on improving young people's futures. Safeguarding is an area she cares deeply about, and she is committed to ensuring that children learn in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. As a Community Governor at Bramley Oak Academy, Oktavia is keen to contribute her skills, knowledge, and professional experience to support the school and help it continue to grow and succeed.

Christine Roche
Christine is passionate about education and committed to supporting schools and the next generation to achieve exceptional outcomes. With extensive experience in governance, strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement at board level, Christine has a proven ability to promote accountability, financial sustainability and long-term planning. She is motivated by a desire to give back to the community, champion inclusive practices and help create an environment in which all students can thrive and reach their full potential.
Christine has a strong track record of building trusted relationships with clients, regulators, partners and cross-functional teams. Throughout her career, she has successfully supported organisational growth, strategic development and complex stakeholder engagement, bringing valuable expertise in governance, collaboration and effective decision-making. Her experience of working with diverse stakeholders enables her to contribute positively to board discussions and support the continued success of the academy and its pupils.
